I rather like Andrew Harmon's idea of mossy light switches and outlets. Similarly, E. O. Wilson developed the concept of the Biophilia Hypothesis, meaning we as humans are most comfortable when we are close to vegetation, and these dandy little additions are nice reminders. There are just a few catches...
First, I'm not quite sure what the fire codes are, but I have a bad feeling that these might not make the cut. Second, dependent on what plants these are, I'm unclear how to water them, since pouring water on an outlet isn't high on my to-do list.
Yet it's hard to deny the simplistic beauty of these inventions. Switch plates aren't known for being particularly quaint, modern, or breathtaking. But the idea of adding more personality to them does strike a cord with me.
What do you think? Other than fire hazards and watering conundrums, would you install these in your apartment?
