You can now take in the awe-inspiring majesty of the Northern Lights from the comfort of your own tiny hotel room. Off the Map Travel has a new expedition with a Sled Hotel that allows travelers to get to the Northern Lights in arctic Finland in relative comfort.
Taking getting away from it all to the next level, the two person hotel rooms are about 8 feet wide, 15 feet long and 6.5 feet high. The glass-topped room includes a bed, heater, table and outdoor toilet. It also comes equipped with snow shoes and personal sleds so guests can make the most of their wintertime adventure.
“The wilderness surrounding Kilpisjärvi is known for its remote and uninterrupted Arctic tundra,” Off the Map travel founder Jonny Cooper told The Daily Mail. “Away from any man-made light pollution, it is here that that the wilderness camp is placed for the winter, giving guests the best possible opportunity to experience the Northern Lights and simply enjoy the silence of the Arctic plains.”
The company is accepting reservations until April, when they’ll put the sled hotels away until winter rolls around again.
