Stacked Black Barn?! Check Out Maxwell’s New Hamptons Home

After many, many years of DIYing, fixing, decorating, and chasing mice in my small studio apartment, I can honestly say that there is NOTHING more enjoyable than getting to build your own home from the ground up. You might remember that in April 2016 I tore down the small country house (that link also begins a series of posts that detail the process) that I had purchased more than 15 years earlier, beginning a journey that (while there are still some details) I get to celebrate this month with its being photographed and published by my friends over at House Beautiful. While architect John Berg designed the house and interior designer Rebecca Robertson helped me with the insides, the delicious photographs (taken in warm September) were taken by Bjorn Wallander and you should check out the whole thing right now.

Okay, I’m going to tease it with one more pic here from the dining room/kitchen, which is one of my favorite rooms in the house. This room began with the Hay Frame table and bench, I added the CH36 Wegner chairs and then the Johansson J64 chairs. The Normann Copenhagen Bell Lamps came next. Even with adding the sheepskins, the room was white, cold and uncomfortable. The breakthrough? Remembering the Josef Frank wallpaper that I’d pinned a few years earlier. When that arrived last winter the room was complete.
