When a home’s door opens for the first time, it’s always a fantastic moment. When I came Mireya and Arnau’s home, the first to greet me effusively was Gustav, their white cat with one blue and one green eye. As soon as you arrive he either wants to give you kisses on your nose or gently bite your feet. Anything to catch your attention to play with him!

In their home, the light was the most impressive thing to me; they are so lucky to live in front of a park, and you can hear birds. Bright reflections of light play around their house that’s full of memories and travel souvenirs.

Mireya travels quite often to find special second-hand clothing she sells on her online vintage clothing store Neko Vintage Clothes. She tells me she’s traveled alone to South Korea, Russia, Romania, China and more, something for which you must have courage and attitude — Mireya has both.

Arnau is a graphic designer who works on album covers for national and international bands; some of the beautiful posters they have at home are proof of this.

After sharing this home as a couple, their space is becoming like them, filled with memories brought from trips they’ve made together and decor pieces they’ve both chosen… because together everything is better.

Our Style: Our home style is eclectic and very personal because each room is filled with objects that have been rescued from different times, places and moments. In all our travels we always bring a souvenir to decorate our home; this is the secret why we have things from Russia, USA, Asia, Europe…

Inspiration: Clearly our inspiration is vintage. We love antique things with personality. We have been living together just a year and a half. We both had our previous houses decorated with vintage items, so we gathered all our little treasures and we have created a home together.

Favorite Element: No plants or vases, or anything. Without doubt, our favorite “element” is our cat Gustav.

Biggest Challenge: Our next goal is to find an old wooden table with chairs that provide personality to our dining room.

What Friends Say: Everyone who comes home says how lucky we are to live in front of a park and the special light we have.

Biggest Embarrassment: And the winner is… the dining table! We have to change it as soon as possible!

Proudest Thing: The corner of plants in the living room is one of our favourite places at home. We love to relax there with some cushions and a good book. And Gustav has his space there with a small spot for play, where he keeps hiding his toy mice and where he can look at people on the street.

Biggest Indulgence: Our urgent need to buy more posters and pictures that we can hang on the walls! Hahaha!

Best Advice: The concept of “home” and “house” are very different, so don’t you decorate your home to be nice but rather for it to feel like yours, as you don’t want to be anywhere else.

Dream Sources: We love our home, but dreaming is free so we would love to have the typical old style flat from Barcelona, with its beautiful floor, large windows, high ceilings… And as “the cherry on top,” a motor home.
