Courtney and Jeffrey live in the charming Greenpoint neighborhood in Brooklyn. Known for its Polish roots, Greenpoint is a destination for artists and families alike. The couple met at work — they both work at Kickstarter — whose offices are located “literally 30 seconds away.”

Outside of work the two pursue their own creative endeavors, which is reflected in their living space. Courtney makes collage art and sculpture, while Jeff makes music. They also feature a ton of their friends’ and local artists’ art. This warm and welcoming apartment teeters between adult and whimsical, with a style as unique as the inhabitants.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: We’re not sure how to define our style. Sometimes we get old stuff, sometimes new. Fancy, cheap, made by friends, or made by us. We like stuff that makes us feel happy.

Inspiration: The ’60s, Frida Kahlo, the South, The Zombies

Favorite Element: Our extra long desk. We found the desk top for $20 at Big Reuse in a pile of doors, and put hairpin legs on it that we already owned.

Biggest Challenge: The kitchen is small and our closet is large, so we keep some pantry things in the closet.

What Friends Say: A friend once said that our apartment looked like her idea of an adult Barbie dream house.

Biggest Embarrassment: The bathroom isn’t really our style.

Proudest DIY: We designed and built the bike rack ourselves. We wanted a solution for storing a bike without hanging it from the ceiling or scuffing up the walls.

Biggest Indulgence: Pendleton Glacier National Park wool blanket that we recently got on a family trip.
