How To: Add Texture In A Space

We've been renting for a long time and have picked up a few tips and tricks along the way for making a rental apartment a home. Since the real estate isn't technically ours, preserving the bones of the space is important as we create our home. One of our favorite tricks is...

...adding wood slats to our walls to create texture and dimension. We spotted this fabulous wooden backdrop to a workspace over at Kelly Green Design + Home (also one of our recent house tour participants) and wanted to share it with you. By simply creating and attaching a wooden "headboard" to the wall where the desk sits, the space feels rich with texture and style. Plus you are keeping the integrity of the plain white wall behind the backdrop only using a few nails to hang the wood piece.

What's your favorite way to add texture to your home?
