How to Decorate Your Apartment to Feel Less Temporary

We are loving the tips Rachel gives for making a temporary apartment feel more like home. It's definitely been a challenge for us to make an apartment feel like home without investing too much into that specific apartment.

In our last apartment, we knew we'd only be living there for one year, so we decided to go the minimalist approach and not hang any pictures or get truly "settled." Big mistake. After a while, we really felt like we were living in a hotel. Even hanging one big family photo made us so much happier.

Rachel suggests:

• Putting things on your walls right away- don't wait like we did!
• Choosing furniture that is comfortable, and not just space-saving to suit your current space. Purchase fewer pieces of furniture, but make sure you can take what you have to your next residence.
• Add green plants. This definitely makes it feel more like home.

Even if you've been living in a rental for a while, why not take some time during spring cleaning to make it more like home?
