How To: Build your own Pet Furniture

Jul 17, 2006

If you have a dog or cat and space for a little DIY building project, This Old House has an article, Three Pet Projects, from Dale Jolliffe (building contracter and Great Dane person) with instructions for creating a doggie daybed, a catbox bench, and a set of small pet steps (with storage for their paraphenalia) all on a less than $100 budget.

We particularly like the cat box bench, which is actually a litter box hideaway. This seems like it might be of interest to the many folks out there who can't find a decent-looking way to accommodate this necessity.

Trillium, the reader who tipped us, says: "I know THO isn't the normal style for regular AT readers, but you could make the same design more sleek and modern with different trim and wood (instead of the beadboard)."

"It sure beats the 1k+ cat bench that DWR is hawking and I think it predates it in design (hmmmm). And the plans are free!"

Thanks Trillium!
