Our little sister was an early green crusader and insisted on bringing her lunch to school (Catholic school at that!) in a cloth Crown Royal Whiskey bag. This Apple-a-Day lunchbag by Spool Sewing in Philadelphia might have been more appropriate.

You'll save some trees and this cheery fabric is bound to bring a smile to your kid's face. Spool Sewing offers a sewing pattern with easy instructions for download ($5) on their website. For $22 they'll send you the full kit - pattern, outer and lining fabrics, interfacing and velcro so you can get started right away. And if you're in the Philly area, you can attend their class tomorrow and go home with your own homesewn lunchbag.
