Hats off to designer Konstantin Grcic for sharing the DIY plans for your very own Boom iPod-docking speaker with handle. If you've got a workshop and a little wood working skills, it seems like an easy enough project to see through. Plans and materials list below...

Here's what you'll need:

  • Speedlink SNAPPY USB computer speakers (Available in various colors)
  • Pine boards
  • Self-grip feet
  • USB power adapter
  • Rubber / felt
  • Double-sided adhesive tape (Extra strong)
  • Electric drill
  • Nails
  • Drill bit 20mm, 12 mm, 5mm
  • Hammer
  • Ruler
  • Pencil

Now download Konstantin Grcic's PDF plans which include both the sizes for the pine boards, but also step by step instructions of how to put it all together. There seems plenty of opportunity to customize your "Boom" box inside and out (we'd paint the interior of the lower storage section a neon color for contrast and line the inside with matching felt.
