  • First remove dust from your trim with a vacuum or cloth. If your trim is dirty, use a highly diluted solution of dishwashing liquid to clean it. Then let it dry.
  • Apply painters tape to the walls and floor or ceiling bordering the trim.
  • Now you're ready to paint. Paint with the grain of the wood using short strokes to coat the surface. Then use longer, smoother strokes for an even, finished surface.
