The first Christmas we had a cat (we miss you Scooter!) is the first time we learned that a tree, glass ornaments and felines are the perfect storm for trouble. Our experience with Christmas tree ornaments and pets can be instructive when thinking about safe ornaments for younger children as well. How about a tree trimmed with paper candy canes that you can make yourself?

We're loving this tutorial posted on Skip To My Lou and will be giving a test drive this weekend.
