I usually barely decorate for Halloween and only slightly more for Thanksgiving — not because I'm not festive, but because I save my energy for Christmas. Erin Souder of House of Earnest offers tips for creating holiday decor that will transition from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas that will help the reluctant (like me) or the persistent holiday decorator save time, energy, and possibly money.

Erin's tips for transitioning holiday decor from Halloween through Christmas are smart and simple. Rather than creating three separate schemes, she uses base elements to anchor the decorations and adds and subtracts components as the weeks go on. In her sample, pumpkins carry you from Halloween through Thanksgiving, and red berries go from Turkey Day to the end of the year.
