HP Builds Printers with Drivers Already Installed

When you buy a printer, often times it comes with an installation disc that holds printer drivers your computer needs to properly communicate with your new ink- or laserjet. On many occasions, these drivers can be a real pain in the behind to work properly and include loads of applications you just don't need or want. I already have image software, I don't need your company's janky version of Picasa or iPhoto. HP has come up with a new line of small business printers that are hopefully moving things in the right direction.

In a move that makes us wonder why this hasn't happened earlier, HP built a line of small business printers whose internal memory holds all the drivers they need to work with your computer. Three models in the LaserJet Pro line will include the company's new "Smart Install" feature, which streamlines the installation process to four steps: plug in the power, power on, connect to your host computer via USB, print test page, and... end scene.

This would be so invaluable for all printers. I can't tell you how many times I've spent hours downloading printer drivers and updates in order to get an all-in-one to work properly.
