Even if you look at pictures of interiors all day long, every once in a while you'll run across something that makes you do a double take — something unique, something beautiful, something not quite like anything you've seen before. That's how I felt about this Roman hotel. The designers have taken a beautiful old 17th century townhouse and filled it with a mix of antiques and modern pieces that feels somehow simultaneously just right for this historic building and also incredibly fresh and modern. And while you may not live in a 400 year old Italian building, there are still plenty of ideas here to steal for your own home.
1. The combo of clean-lined, minimal, midcentury styled furniture with luxe fabrics, rich colors, and gold.
This is my favorite new incarnation of modern... a kind of luxe modern style that incorporates minimal shapes but is anything but minimal.
2. Wall-sized artwork.
An oversized wall hanging is a great way to make a room feel 'finished' without having to fill the room with a lot of furniture or accessories.
3. (Judicious) use of mirrored tiles.
I have to admit, before seeing these photos I wasn't totally sold on mirrored tiles. And mind you, these are gold mirrored tiles. But I think this space shows the perfect use of them — as an accent, a little bit of luxe and glam to reflect the luxe bits of the rest of the decor.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg... there are lots of great things going on at this little hotel. You can see more of them at Yatzer, or check out the The G-Rough Hotel's website to book a room and experience it for yourself.
