Being green ain't easy, but it seems plenty of manufacturers are trying their best to minimize energy use with, ironically, more technology. But sometimes this is a good thing: the iGo Green Power Smart Tower helps to regulate power consumption by doing what we should all do, but often forget to do. The tower advertises it helps automatically reduce vampire standby power by powering down outlets when not in use, supposedly slashing standby power by up to 85%.

The $79 iGo Green Power Smart Tower offers 4 fixed and 4 rotating outlets to accommodate all sizes and shapes of wall plugs; 4 of those outlets are always-on for devices requiring continuous power. The automatic switching outlets are managed as 2 sets of 2 outlets, so you can easily pair up devices that need to be regulated, while there is an instant on button for immediate powering up. Surge protection (surge protection rating: 4320 joules
), cable management and 2 USB power ports round out the features of the Smart Tower, with it's vertical shape making it a good fit for tight spots in a corner or ontop of a desk

Available online at iGo Power.
