Big news from IKEA: collaborations with British designer Tom Dixon and Danish brand HAY are in the works for 2017.

Both collections were announced yesterday at IKEA’s annual Democratic Design Day, where the company also revealed its latest Life at Home report.

The collection with HAY will maintain a classic Scandinavian feel with light colors and clean lines; the main focus is on the continuing shift toward a more fluid living space, and what pieces are truly necessary in a 21st century urban home. The line will include furniture, accessories, lighting, and textiles.

Even the iconic FRAKTA bag gets the HAY treatment with a more muted palette:

The Tom Dixon collection also focuses on the ever-changing home, and how to solve the tensions that arise in smaller spaces having to be one-stop shops for socializing, eating, working, and relaxing. While the details are still top secret, Dixon did reveal they’re working on an aluminum-framed sofa that he hopes could surpass the KLIPPAN.

The Tom Dixon collection will be available in August 2017, while the HAY collection is slated for Fall 2017.
