IKEA’s Newest Products are Colorful, Bold, and Totally Unexpected
When you think of Scandinavian design, a few things naturally come to mind. Think: simplicity, neutral color palettes, clean lines. But this month, one of the leader’s in Scandinavian home goods, IKEA, is turning that all on its head.
The brand’s February launches are bright, colorful, and just plain fun. IKEA describes the new products as being “focused on boosting the energy in everyday life with joyful colors and bold, graphic patterns.” And with February being one of the dreariest times of the year, a little extra brightness is much appreciated. All of the new items will be hitting stores throughout the month, but we thought we’d highlight the newness we’re most excited about.
1. ROSALILL Curtains, $14.99
Bright red curtains with a simple windowpane print are sure to make quite the statement (in the best way). The affordable price also makes them a great option for people who want to dip their toes into the world of red decor without committing to a full sofa, or even paint job. These measure at 57″ x 98″ and come as a pair.
2. RÖNNINGE Chair, $89
With its sleek, sturdy shape, the RÖNNINGE chair is a solid choice for all your dining needs. It’s available in birch and black, but this jade green shade takes the cake for me. It’s at once on-trend and timeless, and colorful without feeling like too much for a kitchen table or dining room.
3. LANGSTED Rugs, $12.99-$49.99
These colorful rugs give you the chance to design your own custom floor covering. They come in a variety of shades, sizes, and piles, so you can collage them together or layer them to make something truly unique.
4. KONGSTRUP Rug, $79.99
The KONGSTRUP rug is a great option if you crave that color-block effect, but would prefer a single rug. The staircase-like zigzag down the middle is bold, but the colors are subdued enough that it could work in a variety of spaces.
5. FRAMKALLA Tray, $7.99
I’m a sucker for a good tray, and the squiggly pattern on this one immediately caught my eye. Thanks to the red, white, and blue motif, I can imagine serving drinks on this guy for a Fourth of July party, but it could seamlessly integrate into everyday life as well.
6. SANDVILAN Bath towel, $12.99
I love the idea of injecting color and life into your bathroom through patterned towels, and this blue, green, and yellow option would do just that. The large-scale floral print is quite the showstopper.
7. GRIMSÅS Pendant Lamp, $49.99
This sunny yellow lamp projects patterns onto the wall thanks to the decorative starfish that surround the globe. There’s also a slightly bigger white version adorned with flowers.
