Swedish retailer IKEA is dipping its toes into the gaming industry and putting a stylish spin on the often-ugly gaming chair.

IKEA announced earlier this month that it will be introducing an entire line of gaming furniture to its collection of homewares, including a new chair called the MATCHSPEL, which marries a minimalist aesthetic with necessary functionality and comfort.

According to a Feb. 2 press release, IKEA joined forces with ROG (Republic of Gamers) to come up with their 30 new gaming-related products. Along with the MATCHSPEL chair, which will seemingly be available in both black and white, IKEA will also sell a drawer unit, a gaming desk, mouse bungees, mug holders, a ring light, and even a neck pillow.

”The needs of billions of gamers around the globe are very diverse, whereas the existing offer is rather technical and often perceived as masculine design-wise, despite around 46 percent of gamers being female. We believe there’s a lot to be done to democratize the gaming experience,” Ewa Rychert, Global Business Leader of Workspace, IKEA of Sweden, said in the press release.

IKEA has graced the gaming community with a simple, adjustable, and easy-on-the-eyes chair that gamers can get their hands on for under $200 (which, as any serious gamer who has invested in a gaming chair before will tell you, is an absolute steal). As of right now, the MATCHSPEL is only being sold in China, but IKEA hopes to bring the chair to the U.S. and elsewhere in October 2021.
