IKEA is doing things a little differently for Black Friday this year, and it’s only fitting since the holidays will be anything but traditional. People have been thinking outside the box and reimagining their celebrations in compliance with the CDC’s recommendations to avoid travel and large gatherings this year.

So in the spirit of bucking the trend, IKEA is doing “Green Friday” rather than the usual Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While other retailers are having sales that drive consumers to buy more, the Swedish home retailer is actually doing the opposite and leveraging its messages on greener living and ways we can all reduce our consumption. From now through Cyber Monday on November 30, you’ll be able to find tips on how to live a more sustainable lifestyle and ways to reduce your environmental impact on IKEA’s website.  And because it’s IKEA, you better believe they created step-by-step illustrated instructions to help.

Most of us know IKEA as the go-to retailer for Scandinavian design and home decor at an affordable price point. But the company is also dedicated to responsible sourcing and reducing their environmental footprint. That includes practices like sourcing materials for furniture and textiles from sustainable sources and using renewable or recycled materials when possible, and switching all of their entire lighting collections to energy-efficient LED.
