IKEA Malm Storage Unit Reused As Coffee Table

Finding a new way to reuse furniture is always a great feeling. IKEA furniture has its perks, and of the big ones is that you can reuse and hack it easily enough into something new. This coffee table is no exception.

The IKEA Malm Storage Unit is designed to fit under beds and allow you to organize your bedroom. That didn't stop Ingo from thinking of a way to use it as part of his coffee table. He found that the form factor was perfect to hide magazines, bottle openers, and snacks. However, its height was an issue.

That's why he combined the Malm with an IKEA Galant monitor stand and three short table legs. The resulting combination is perfect as his coffee table. It also adds a sort of virtual shelf to help organize stuff when it gets stacked on the coffee table. The table legs were actually taped to the top of the Malm using double-sided tape.

This great little hack shows how you can put together some strange combinations to make something that actually works pretty well. So before you sell or donate some of your old furniture, think if you can hack or reuse it in some fashion.
