A Rainbow IKEA Bag Is Here Just In Time For Pride
Of all the things IKEA is known for, we’d say their giant bags make the cut. They may not be the focal point of IKEA’s branding, but—similar to their meatballs—they have a cult following. A few years ago, the regular FRAKTA bag became a fashion icon when Belenciaga made a $2,000 verson, but the newest bag that’s about to roll out is not one to be left behind. Just in time for Pride month, the Swedish giant has designed a rainbow bag.
The rainbow striped design covering the entirety of the bag is pretty difficult to miss, but it’s different from FRAKTA in other ways, too. For one, purchasing this bag does good. IKEA is donating 100 percent (yes, you read that right) of their profits from this bag to the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF), a civil rights group working to achieve equality for individuals within the LGBT+ community.
This isn’t the first time FRAKTA has gotten a makeover; collaborations with both Danish design house HAY and French fashion retailer Colette resulted in iterations of the multipurpose bag. Think of all the things you can use the rainbow version for: moving, kiteboarding, even peeing while wearing a wedding dress, and so much more.
The colorful version, called KVANTING, will be sold in stores for $3.99 starting June 1 while supplies last. And while you’re there, most of the retailer’s Memorial Day sales for IKEA Family members are running through June 2.
