IKEA Recreated the Iconic Living Rooms from “Friends,” “The Simpsons,” and “Stranger Things”
Have you ever loved a TV show so much you wished you could live inside of it, even just for a day? Well, you’re in luck, because IKEA just recreated the iconic living rooms from three of your favorite shows: “Friends,” “The Simpsons,” and “Stranger Things.”
The room recreations are part of the “Real Life Series” campaign running in the United Arab Emirates, created by ad agency Publicis Spain. But IKEA didn’t just find a bunch of random furniture and home goods—they used their own products. Which means that if you were so inclined to make one of these living rooms your living room, you could very much do that.
“The curious thing [we discovered] is that, actually, you can really find anything at IKEA,” Eduardo Marques, Chief Creative Officer of Publicis/PublicisEmil/Wysiwyg/Nurun, told Ad Age. “Every object we needed to replace, we had more than three options at Ikea to use. So, the hard work was to select from all these options we had.”
When you think of Monica Geller’s New York City apartment or Homer and Marge Simpson’s suburban home, you probably don’t think of IKEA, which is known for its simple, Scandinavian design. But the campaign serves as a reminder that with a little imagination (and a lot of digging through catalogs to find the exact right pieces), you can bring just about any vision to life.
