IKEA is making the switch. The Swedish retailer announced last week that they will stop selling halogen bulbs and offer LEDs exclusively at all locations worldwide starting in September.
IKEA sells 2.3 million bulbs each year in the UK alone, and the company calculates the switch from incandescents can save British consumers £300 a year in energy costs.
The announcement comes around the time that the EU pushed back a ban on selling certain halogens; the ruling was to go into effect in 2016, but has been delayed until 2018.
