Whats in a "home office"? A computer? A notebook and pens? A task chair? We think that a home office is anywhere you sit down to work, so we've got to love this recipe bar and planning desk one enterprising IKEA hacker built in their kitchen.
Looking for a place to stash cookbooks and plan out dinner, Heather decided she needed a standing desk in her kitchen. And not just any desk, but one that's custom-built for the space and costs less than $60.
A tall order? Not really. Just hit up the IKEA As-Is section, as Heather told Ikea Hacker:
We started with the Vika Annefors storage piece and simply elevated it to bar height by attaching Capita legs. Then we attached the Vika Amon tabletop. The tabletop was cut short to our desired length and then a 2x2 was used as a ledger board to secure it on the wall.
Even without As-Is pieces, this project will cost you less than $100. You could use this as a kitchen workstation, but it's easily adaptable to becoming a great standing desk in a more traditional workspace.
