IKEA's Urban Chair, 5 Ways

IKEA's Urban Chair, 5 Ways

Have you ever experienced the feeling of "growing out" of a piece of IKEA furniture? It's not that the chair or table you bought is bad; you just get tired of it and the low cost makes you feel like it's not a huge loss if you let it go. We've been there, and we've found that sometimes it's best to mix things up and try restyling something before you say goodbye for good.

Case in point: the Urban Chair. It's a good-looking design that costs $40 and works inside or outdoors. It's also ubiquitous and, some say, uncomfortable.

The five rooms shown above all take a different approach to using the Urban Chair. One uses a pillow to soften it; another styles it with a seat cushion; and others stack them in a corner for those times when extra seating is needed.

If you're looking for a way to repurpose an old Urban Chair, you might take an idea from these homes and cushion it, stack it, or move it from the dining room table to the back porch (or vice versa).
