This Is the Dessert Ina Garten Is Making For Memorial Day
Memorial Day weekend is great for so many reasons. You get a 3-day weekend, you get to lay out at the beach or by the pool, and there are parties and BBQs all weekend. Whether you’re hosting a BBQ or attending one, you can’t show up empty-handed.
Appetizers are pretty easy, you can always throw something together with buffalo sauce and everyone will love it But if you’re on dessert duty, you might be stumped on what to make. Apple pie is so overdone and not everyone likes sheet cake. So, what are you to do?
Take advice from the Barefoot Contessa! Ina Garten is one of the queens of the Food Network. If you’re going to copy off of anyone for Memorial Day weekend, it is Ina! On Instagram, she shared her MDW dessert decision.
She captioned the photo:
I love having summer parties but it’s gotten harder to plan a menu now that it feels like everyone is on a special diet. Dessert can be especially tricky, but I always try to make one that everyone can eat. This weekend, I’m baking my usual Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp with a gluten-free oatmeal crumble on top. The sweet, tart fruit is so good with the buttery, crunchy topping. Trust me, no one will even know that it’s gluten-free!! (Just don’t forget to serve it with lots of good vanilla ice cream!)
To find the recipe, you can check it out on Ina’s website, the Barefoot Contessa. For Memorial Day weekend, Ina’s menu included bleu cheese burgers, Aperol spritzers, vegetable coleslaw, and old-fashioned potato salad. Sounds delicios! Where was our invite to her party?
What are you making for Memorial Day?
