Incorporating Children Into the Decor

Incorporating Children Into the Decor

Remember the post we did a while back regarding the NY Times article and incorporating children into the decor? We really loved hearing everyone's comments. My own philosophy falls somewhere between the two extremes of absolutely no toys outside of the designated play area and toys in every room of the house. The September issue of Dwell Magazine featured some photos that, for me, struck the perfect balance of toys and decor.

We love to see a nice looking play kitchen and kids' artwork in the dining room. Kid-sized table and chairs in the kitchen makes perfect sense. A well-designed play garage looks great displayed in an empty space. Rather than work against the decor, all of these photos show how seamlessly childrens' things can be incorporated into the decor. Check out the full article and more photos here at Dwell.

Tell us if you think this is too much of childrens' things invading the "adult" spaces in the house.
