This family home in Bordeaux, France was built on a plot of land that once housed a large garage. The garage was a jumping-off point for the new industrial modern style home designed by FABRE/deMARIEN Architects — the original garage wall now acts as a facade and forms a buffer from the street.
The new home is quite large, open and airy due to the steel structure that requires minimal vertical supports. The home features an impressive amount of integrated courtyard and patio space on the two levels. FABRE/deMARIEN Architects used black enameled corrugated iron and aluminum sheet, black concrete, plain sheet, perforated sheet and galvanized steel to embrace the industrial aesthetic.
