It's a common trope that single New York women complain about the lack of single men. Ladies are in luck though, because the data just doesn't support that. Jonathan Soma has created an interactive map that shows just how many more single people of one gender are found in cities across America.
Based on data from the 2011 American Community Survey, the overwhelming majority of cities has a surplus of men... at least until the population hits 40.
Unfortunately, the data doesn't correct for sexual orientation, so it's possible all those extra men are just not that into you.
Play around with the interactive map over on JonathanSoma.com.
