Introducing Dog to Baby

How will the first baby in the family react when you bring home your newborn? Well, we're not talking about your first child here- we're talking about your dog. He or she has been the center of attention for some time now, but no matter what, things are going to change. While you can't change the fact that your dog isn't necessarily going to receive all the oohs and aahs from visitors anymore, there are some ways which you can prepare your canine for this newest member of the family. Dog Meets Baby is one method that might help.

Dog Meets Baby is a CD with 9 tracks that will help your dog become more familiar with the sounds that your baby will make. It's suggested that each time the dog hears one of the sounds, you reward them with a treat. By doing this, your dog will associate happy feelings with your infant's screams and cries. We wonder though- would that make the dog hungry everytime baby cries and needs your attention? Just a thought.

The tracks have amusing titles like:
• "What's a baby got to do to get some food around here?" (moderate crying)
• "You say tomato, I say, where's my freakin' bottle" (babbling)

This would also make a quick shower gift as it comes gift-wrapped with a bow, instructions, and dog treats. It's only $16.99 including shipping and it's available here. We haven't tried this, so we can't vouch for it. Has anyone tried any other methods to prepare dog or pets for baby? Let us know!
