Name: Apple Ipod Nano
Price: $149 (8 GB), $179 (16 GB)
Rating: Strong Recommend*
The new iPod Nano introduced this summer, is available for purchase now. We've been testing one for a while and the verdict is in: This is not a worthy successor of the prior iPod Nano with Video (remember, the one from last year with the video camera?) but we look at these, as a new model, not a replacement for the existing one. What we have here is iPod Shuffle with a touch screen.
At 8GB and 16GB capacity, this is more than enough for either your entire library of music or some select playlists.
The touch screen is as easy to use as it's on an iPhone or iPod Touch. Almost all the tricks work here. Album art looks amazing, the colors are bright and the OS is snappy.
Due to the small size, you can place this little Nano, anywhere and the built in clip, makes this task even easier.
The box comes with everything you need: iPod Nano, headphones, manual and 30 pin cable.
Setting this is a snap but you need to have the latest greets version of iTunes in order to start the sync.
The OS comes pre built with cool apps like the Nike, Pedometer and FM radio app (which let you pause live broadcast!) but you cannot add more apps like the other IOS devices. Voice over is still there and the battery last over 24 hours of playing.
They are available in 6 nice colors and $149 for the 8GB and $179 for the 16GB.
This little device is a dream come true for a car installation projects. They are fully featured and the small foot print makes the placement and hiding a non-issue. You can also rotate the orientation of the screen 360 degrees with the pinch of 2 fingers and even when you turn it off and on, it remembers the last setting, so you don't need to be rotating the screen over and over.
