I-Quad: The Landing Strip of the Future

I-Quad: The Landing Strip of the Future

If you don't yet have some version of the entry efficiency device known to the Apartment Therapy-devoted as a landing strip, then you need to get to work. Whether yours is a large foyer with full-sized furniture or a small shelf next to the door to a studio, it might benefit from some tech. A clock or weather indicator will do for now, but in the future we might see landing strips like this concept...

The I-Quad concept is made up of several LED-lit 'tiles' on a frame which can, with help from your USB- or Bluetooth-connected gadgets (which conveniently get their own little shelf), can display time, weather, news, e-mails and images. Adding to the cool factor is a low-res, almost dot matrix-like display.

A gizmo like this could forever change the landing strip. Checking the time and weather right before you head out the door would be effortless. And leaving put-it-where-they'll-see-it messages to housemates would be as easy as sending an e-mail—it could even happen long-distance!

What do you think, Unplggd? Would a concept like this have weight in the real world?
