Is It Safe To Use a Hoosier as a Changer?

Q: In a recent room tour, you guys featured a photograph of an antique Hoosier cabinet. I loved the way the cabinet looked in a nursery, and found it clever and creative. Most Hoosier cabinets have a hutch, which extends above the porcelain/tin countertop. Do you think it would be safe/cool to use the countertop as a changing table? Has anyone done this? Could you hack the piece of furniture to be safer?
