Jessica’s Project: Photo Box Face Lift – BEFORE
Shield your eyes! Wanting to participate in the January Jumpstart but not having a lot of time, I’m going to take on an obnoxious little thing that’s been bothering me for awhile.
I bought this photo box at The Container Store a few years ago. I use it to store computer discs but it’s been banished to the closet because the acid-green color is no good. I thought about tossing it and buying another one in a better color/pattern but that was before I fell in love with a cheap and easy fix at the hardware store…
Contact paper! I found the best faux bois patterned contact paper a tiny Ace Hardware store. It’s Neapolitan in coloring, with a “grain” softly defined in café au lait brown, a mauvey pink, and white.
For my January Jumpstart, I will be using my lovely, new contact paper to cover the brain-searing green on this box. Besides the paper and the box, I’ll need a ruler, X-Acto knife, pencil, and double stick tape.
This one-day project may not win any brilliance awards but it will make me happier about my storage situation. I’ll finally be able to invite the box back out of the closet and having pretty storage might even inspire extra tidiness.
Stay tuned to see me in action and to see how the final product turned out!
