What can’t Joanna Gaines do? She’s a former Fixer Upper star, cookbook author, and savvy business mogul when it comes to the Magnolia empire. If there is anyone we trust to pick out the perfect farmhouse sink for our home or to find us enough shiplap, it is Joanna Gaines. However, she knows a lot more than just fixing up houses. She’s got some incredible tips for the kitchen.

In case you somehow missed it, Joanna dropped her first cookbook, Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering, this year. The book was published just two months after Chip and Joanna Gaines opened their restaurant Magnolia Table in Waco, Texas. Many of the recipes in the cookbook are actually served at the restaurant of the same name, which was smart thinking on the couples part.

One recipe in Joanna’s cookbook is a standout because it is a classic recipe but Joanna actually put her own spin on it! Joanna has a suggestion for people who love to bake chocolate chip cookies.

Joanna first started baking chocolate chip cookies when she was a kid with her father. Both of them have a huge sweet tooth, so they always added extra chocolate chips to the recipe. However, over the years, Joanna has perfected the recipe and now suggests that people need to cut back on one key ingredient: butter.

Joanna wrote in her book:

“I developed this recipe over the years, after experimenting with a few classics and having them come out flat every time. I wanted something that was chunky, beautiful, and also delicious. In the end, one big change I made was to cut back on the butter. I do truly believe that butter makes everything better and no one is more surprised than I am about how amazing these taste even though they’re made with less of the good stuff than most traditional chocolate chip cookies.”

In Joanna’s recipe, she only calls for 1 stick of butter, rather than the typical 2 other recipes can call for. If you want to try making Joanna Gaines chocolate chip cookie recipe, you can follow the instructions from The Kitchn.
