Joanna Gaines of “Fixer Upper” and Magnolia fame is releasing a brand new kids’ book just in time for Christmas 2020. It’s called “The World Needs Who You Were Made To Be,” and it’s all about planting the seed of self-love in kids so that they can grow up to love themselves for who they are.

“I wanted my new children’s book to say the very thing that I needed to hear as a kid, and that I want my kids to hear and know deep in their bones, and that I hope your kids will hear and believe, too: The world needs who you were made to be—with all of the kindness and strength and unique qualities that make you who you are,” Gaines captioned her July 13 Instagram announcement.

Illustrated by Julianna Swaney, who also illustrated Gaines’ 2019 kids book “We Are The Gardeners,” “The World Needs Who You Were Made To Be” follows a group of children who team up and build a collection of hot air balloons.

“Along the way, these kids learn to work together, leaning in to their own skills and processes, to fill the sky with beautiful colors,” the book description over on Magnolia.com reads. The book preaches the beauty of celebrating what makes us unique as well as taking care of one another despite those differences.

Gaines explained over on her blog, “In the last couple of years spent reading to my youngest son, Crew, I’ve been struck by the way that books written for children are able to simplify a message that adults have somehow made so complex. It might take hundreds of pages of a textbook to dissect the same concept that a children’s book articulates as clear as day in only a few short pages. Yet another reminder of the beauty of simplicity, and how seeing the world through the eyes of children is oftentimes best.”

“The World Needs Who You Were Meant To Be” is currently available for preorder through Magnolia.com.
