Jonah & Jodie's "Enchanted Cottage" in Laurel Canyon

Name: Jodie Livingston, Documentary Filmmaker, and Jonah Adler, Consumer Product Entrepreneur and CEO of Noteworthy
Location: Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles, California
Size: 1,800 square feet
Years lived in: 2.5 years

Laurel Canyon has been immortalized as the one-time home of musicians like Frank Zappa, Jim Morrison, and Joni Mitchell, and this neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills is still a bohemian locale where lots of artists live. Jonah and Jodie have created a perfect balance by mixing in a more glamorous Hollywood aesthetic and modern art, but still appreciating the enchanting look of their canyon home.

With a growing family, Jonah and Jodie have had to make the most out of their space. Were you wondering what was behind the vintage Indian panels in the sitting room? It's Jodie's closet! The sitting room used to be their dining room, but now Jodie and Jonah have had to move some rooms around to free up a room for the nursery. As part of the process, they moved their dining table to the living room and placed it in front of the fireplace. They now love dining with the fire going, windows open, and music playing!

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style: Eclectic contemporary.

Inspiration: Our favorite hotels from around the world, from Aspen to St. Barth's to Sydney.

Favorite Element: The poured concrete bathtub that opens out to the koi pond.

Biggest Challenge: None for us — our friend/designer Susan Devall made it all happen.

What Friends Say: Our friends feel like they're on vacation when they're here... the house has an "enchanted cottage" kind of feel that makes people not want to leave. When we have parties, one thing never changes... the kitchen draws a crowd.

Biggest Embarrassment: The sheer volume of products in our bathroom.

Proudest DIY: Curating and hanging all of our art ourselves

Biggest Indulgence: Our remote controlled mattress and the constant flow of furniture additions... they never end.

Best Advice: Make your home the nicest space you spend time in; life's too short not to.
