In Greek times, the garden was considered the best place for discussing philosophy and other lofty subjects. Dinner guests would "remove to the garden" afterwards to enter into the heart of the evening, rising above gossip and trivialities to surround themselves in nourishing nature and inspiring conversation...
In our own day we do the same thing (though we may not think of it in the same way). Folks go outside to their yards, head up to their roof or simply sit out on the fire escape surrounded by potted plants - all to "get away."
This month we're going to explore the theme of "Garden" in all the different ways it comes into our lives at home.
On all our city sites, we'll be blogging garden sources, tips and inspiration, and Mr. PlantTherapy, Matt Noiseux, will be going nuts as we now get to shower full attention on his favorite topic of all.
In addition, our Design Meetup this month in New York at DWR's new flagship store (this Thursday, June 5th) will be all about Urban Garden Design: Problems and Solutions, so come on down.
