Thanks to the plethora of gift wrap, tissue paper, ribbons, cards, and tags, the holiday season can produce quite a lot of waste. But Katie Holmes has a great idea for making DIY gift tags your friends and family will want to keep for years to come.

Holmes told Architectural Digest on Dec. 1 that she uses Polaroid pictures for all kinds of notes and tags during the holidays. “I write thank-you notes and season’s greetings on the back to send to friends and family,” she said. “You can even turn them into fun hang tags to put on a bottle of wine for a simple, yet very thoughtful gift.”

Here are a couple of instant-print cameras that will help add a photo-finishing touch to your gift wrap this holiday season.

Polaroid Now Starter Set

Polaroid cameras are fairly easy to find secondhand, but the iconic instant-pic camera is still sold on the Polaroid website, too. You can grab a “starter set,” which comes with a Polaroid Now i-Type Instant Camera, two packs of Color i-Type film, and one pack of black-and-white i-Type film for under $150.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 11

Fujifilm also makes an instant-pic camera called the Instax Mini 11, which sells for under $70 on Amazon (and comes in a variety of super cute colors). The Instax Mini 11 takes batteries and can be used with different types of Instax Mini films like “candy pop” and “confetti” films that would add a bit of spice to your holiday gift tags.

Simply shoot, print, develop, and then tape or string to any package or gift with a sweet message written on the back (perhaps in silver ink if the Polaroid or Instax Mini film is black).
