Take a Look Inside Kickstarter’s Brooklyn Headquarters
Welcome to Design Spotting. We’re on a mission to find and tour the coolest spaces and places out there. Whether it’s a high-tech office space or a highly-anticipated art pop-up, we believe design inspiration is everywhere.
We have Kickstarter to thank for getting some really cool projects off the ground: the Exploding Kittens game, the “Veronica Mars” movie, hundreds of really cool tech gadgets, and yes, even a campaign that started with a potato salad and ended with a $55,000 party.
But behind it all is an inspiring headquarters in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Housed in an old pencil factory, the office has an industrial look, while still feeling warm with light woods, cozy rugs, and plants throughout the space. Inside, there’s a library filled with hundreds of books and a theater for creator screenings and performances. Outside, there’s a roof deck and a glass courtyard in the middle of the building where employees can get some fresh air while they’re working.
Creators can also use the facilities for their projects—in fact, the company encourages it. Kickstarter has a Creators-in-Residence program, which invites people from all over the world to the Brooklyn offices so they can use the space and resources to work on and launch projects for a few months. You can find out more about the application process and previous participants here.
Watch the video above and let us know what you think of the office space in the comments! Then, let us know if you have an idea for an inspiring space we should check out next.
