Kickstarter Gardens: Make a Difference in Your Community

Perhaps your new years resolution was to be more active in your community, to become a volunteer, or find some way to give back. Well, after recently writing about Maureen and Trish's Brooklyn Design Plot I had a nose around Kickstarter and I was pleased to find a great number of exciting projects that you can help to fund that are bringing gardens to people in a variety of ways.

These two projects sounded like a fantasitc way to start meeting those 'offer a helping hand' resolutions. To find out more about each, click through where you can see a video and a more in depth description of each project.

Help Fund and Maintain an Edible Campus for 4 Los Angeles Middle Schools.

Help Bike-a-Bee establish a business maintaining urban bee hives through out Chicago all from the back of a bicycle.

Kickstarter has been tremendously successful at helping community and school garden builders to fund their projects and it is heartwarming to flip through all the past projects that have found resources with this website. This is the perfect time of year to get something like this started if you are thinking of breaking ground in the spring. I am looking forward to heading back to see what others around the country have planned for the coming garden season in their own communities.
