Kid-Friendly Songs for St. Patrick's Day

Kid-Friendly Songs for St. Patrick's Day

Having played in an Irish band for the past fifteen years, the phenomenon known as March Madness is one I can fully relate to. The lead-up to St. Patrick's Day is filled with late nights, lots of music and some fine craic (that's not what you think it is). I am eager to share my love of Irish music with my daughter, and while I am in no way a proponent of sanitizing traditional music, I thought it might be wise to exclude some of the rough and rowdy stuff until she is a bit older, maybe three or four. Here are my top picks of Irish songs to get the family ready for March 17th.

These songs have all been performed by countless artists over the years and many of them have been really butchered so be sure to listen before you buy. I believe that if you stick with The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Dubliners and The Chieftans you really just cannot go wrong. Slainte!
