Plastic and melamine are great for kids because they're nearly indestructible and now there are many BPA-free options too, but they're still not safe for the microwave. If your house is like ours we find ourselves heating food in the microwave on our day-to-day adult plates and then transferring it to kid-friendly containers before it hits the table (and, sometimes, the floor). No one likes doing double dishes which is why we were excited to read about Kidishes - tempered glass dishware based on those used in French schools in the '60s and 70s.
Kidishes are offered in the U.S. by Zoë b Organic, a green and organic-focused company owned by Valerie Lecoeur. She remembered these dishes from her youth in France and her 18-month-old Sophie and six-year-old Zoë have been putting them to the test in their home.
