If you’ve read any of my stories here on Kitchn, then you probably know how much I love my Joseph Joseph DrawerStore organizer. It cost just $10 and seemingly solved all my drawer-related problems. It turned my narrow drawer full of tangled flatware into a narrow drawer filled with organized flatware. I had no complaints …at first.

I certainly don’t mean to sound ungrateful, because this organizer really was a game-changer. It’s that, well, every time I opened and closed the drawer, the organizer would slide around. So even though the holder and the rest of the drawer was pretty full, the organizer would almost always be shifted toward to the back of the drawer, making it hard to get what I needed.

It’s not the DrawerStore’s fault—this has been the case with every single drawer organizer I’ve ever had. Things just have a way of sliding around. But they don’t HAVE to!

Feeling frustrated and determined to take matters into my own hands, I recently added little pieces of adhesive Velcro to the bottom of the organizer and the inside of the drawer. I thought about using loops of painters tape, but figured this would be stronger and longer-lasting, and so far, I seem to have made the right choice. The Velcro keeps the organizer in place and I like that I can pull the organizer out when it needs cleaning and put it right back using the same pieces of Velcro.

I haven’t used much Velcro since I learned how to tie my own shoes, but now I’m seriously looking around to see what else needs this double-sided re-usable sticky goodness.
