This is a lot more sophisticated than it sounds. We were struggling with finding the perfect coffee table for a client’s apartment which was being shot the next day for HGTV’s Mission Organization. It needed to be just right. It shouldn’t be too angular (they had babies), it should be generously sized (to accomodate anything), but it shouldn’t be or look too big. We looked everywhere until we stumbled across Material Furniture at ICFF.
Christopher Douglas, owner of Material Furniture, lives in Portland, Oregon, is a graphic designer, rock drummer and unique furniture designer. His Knock-Down/Drag-Out line is not only easy to order and set up, it is also extremely sturdy, durable and soft to the touch. The dining table (shown) and the coffee table are identical (except for size), and while they look at first like overgrown kids furniture, they are subtly stylish in any modern room.
The coffee table ($400) is no IKEA (the price reflects it), but we give it a hearty thumbs up. MGR
