Kohler’s $16,000 Smart Tub Is Has a Fog Feature and its Own Moat
There’s truly no better way to melt away your stress than by soaking in a hot bath filled with good smelling oils and perhaps some bubbles. Kohler, an expert in all things bathtubs, knows this and wants to make that soaking experience even better. At this year’s virtual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the brand debuted a $16,000 “Stillness Bath” smart tub with a mission to relax and renew.
The Stillness Bath was inspired by Japanese forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), which is the practice of immersing oneself in nature and connecting to its silence, opening one’s senses to allow for a full-body relaxation moment.
With that in mind, Kohler designed the Stillness Bath as a freestanding model that offers a Stillness Infinity Experience, which includes water filling from the bottom of the tub, eventually overflowing into the Hinoki wood moat around the entire basin, which creates a spa-like sound.
As House Beautiful reports, the Stillness Bath also has built-in full-spectrum lighting and a fog feature, in which essential oils can be added to create an aromatherapy-like sensation.
And, because the Stillness Bath is a smart tub, it connects to your phone via the Kohler Konnect app, which further allows you to customize your soaking experience.
All this zen and customization comes at quite the cost, unsurprisingly. A less fancy model starts at just over $6,000, and the more you choose to add to your Stillness Bath package, the price goes up and caps at just under $16,000. The least expensive model is available starting in July 2021, while the upgraded versions will be released in November this year..
