Kovacs Arc Wall Lamp

I have always loved the Castiglioni brothers' Arco lamp for Flos, but once kids came into the picture it was a non-starter; the heavy marble base still isn't enough to eliminate the tipping hazard and it looks particularly tempting to toddlers. A few weeks ago I saw someone leaving an estate sale with an Arco in one hand a wall-mounted version in the other. Knowing nothing of its provenance, I went online in hopes of learning more.

No luck finding anything about the vintage lamp, but I did come across this new Arco-inspired wall lamp from Kovacs. It is surprisingly affordable, frees up precious floor space and eliminates any dangers that the original presents to young kids. We know that design purists sometimes bristle at reproductions and reinterpretations, but we have to give props for the style and safety factors. $111.92 at Amazon.
