My Favorite Room: Bedroom
Specs: 100 square feet in a rental
I moved out of my parents' house and into this bedroom in the top floor suite of a 1902 character house over two years ago. Although I was the one who found the online ad for the suite, I couldn't make it to the showing so my two prospective roommates had to go without me. I wasn't worried about moving in sight unseen: the old wood floors, gardening space, pet friendly policy, and convenient location had already sealed the deal for me.
My immediate priorities on moving in were to paint the swamp green walls a bright white and to adopt a kitten. Since then I've worked slowly but steadily to update and upgrade one piece at a time. As you can see in the photos, I'm constantly making small changes. I don't think I'll ever be finished, and I'm totally fine with that. My room changes and grows as I do.
My decorating style is unashamedly eclectic, with bohemian, mid-century, French Nordic, and industrial influences. As a biology major and true west coast nature lover, I am consistently drawn to natural elements. My plant collection is out of control, and balancing my conflicting love of vintage stuff and hatred of clutter is a constant battle. Despite the challenges, I love my small space and the way it forces me to be selective about the things I surround myself with.
