The 27th Annual Benefit Art Auction for the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (L.A.C.E.) is going to be held May 17th, 2006. For those of you that may not be familiar, for the past 28 years, L.A.C.E has provided a venue for Los Angeles to support artwork that is “new, untested, controversial, and experimental.”

This year’s event will include a special performance entitled “Fluorish”, by Los Angeles based artist Karen Kimmel. The performance will involve the first 100 paddle registrants. In collaboration with Gillyflowers, each of these guest’s auction paddles will be transformed into a one-of-a-kind ikebana sculpture at the evenings end. There will also be a performance by Dita Von Teese. It will definitely be a fun event, and you can pick up some amazing pieces in addition to supporting our local art scene. Check out their website to get a preview of the large auction lots, as well as tickets and other information.
